Read More » Conversations Debny812 We need a study on salary demographics focusing on renters making under $75,000 dollars a year (above poverty level). I am sure you will see that this percentage of people is much larger and most likely spending 50% to 75% of their salaries on price gauged apartments in their area. This is the largest percentage of the population that struggles to survive because all they do is pay rent and bills making it almost impossible to contribute to the economy. The government needs to step in and create fair housing laws with a focus on mandatory percentages of affordable housing in all towns based on studies of the salaries of the people in the areas. Rent regulations also are needed to assure everyone has a place to live and to protect renters from astronomical increases. All people need to be considered, not just those making high salaries. #housing #diversityTopic: Report: Nearly half of renters in NY are burdened Reply jerryr Every town that has affordable housing is way too far east, and apartment rent is outrageous! #housing #diversity Topic: Let’s talk about housing on Long Island Reply amandaj $2500 rent in Rokonkoma at the Alton, who can afford that? #housing #diversity Topic: Let’s talk about housing on Long Island ReplyJoin our community Help shape the future of Long Island.
